1955 Silvertone Espinada H63 - rare "Harmometal" binding.
This is a very rare and unusual item, chance of finding another one are very slim.
Distributed by Sears catalogue in the U.S.
These unique H63’s featured the “Harmometal” binding (‘55 to ‘57 only) and yet only weighs about 7 1/2 lbs
Aluminum was wrapped around the guitar body and gives it an amazing 50’s look and a very distinct tone. After ‘57 they switched to a regular binding which changed up not only the look but also changed the tone for the later models. Not many of these “Harm-o-metal” models exist so definately one for the collectors.
Gibson made P13 pickups a precourser to the Gibson P90, offering twangy country tones through to mellow jazz vibes.
The fingerboard has obvious signs of wear (not surprising for its age) and comes with brass frets (quite possibly replalcements), the paintwork has the typical crazing you'd expect from a nitro finish but it's a cool guitar none-the-less.
Scale length - 25"1/4 642mm
Nut Width - 1"3/4 - 44.1mm
16.5" Lower Bout
8.5K Neck pickup and 7.9K bridge pickup
